Grenache. Produced and bottled by Comando G, Daniel Jimenez-Landi's project (of Bodegas Jimenez-Landi) with fellow oneology cohorts, Fernando Garcia (Bodega Maranyones) and Marc Isart (Bodegas y Vinyedos Bernabeleva). They say that they met each other in class, but there are witnesses who say that they actually met at a bar inside the university.
Lovely clear shimmering ruby. The nose is delicate and offers aromas of red fruit and warm spices. The mouth is velvety, fresh and elegant with harmonious tannins and definite touch of smokiness.Enjoy with meat, barbecues, cheese.
This is so perfumed and floral; it just rises out of the glass with crushed berries, strawberries and violets. Medium to full body. Firm and silky tannins. Lovely length and brightness for this hot and dry vintage. Drink or hold.
An alluring inky-purple achievement, the 2020 Abstract is replete with a vivid nose of red and black stone fruits, candied cherry, cassis, dried floral notes, and sweet oak accents. Fleshy and spirited, the wine evolves into a very complex flavor profile of dark berry preserve, raspberry jam, Asian spices, mocha, chaparral, and a hint of crushed rock minerality. An underlying acidity leads to a graceful and fine tannin chain that is seemingly endless.
Grenache (Garnacha) "Gambrels of the Sky" comes from an Emily Dickinson poem entitled “I dwell in Possibility,” and though this feels a little lofty, it seemed appropriate for a wine dedicated to my remarkable grandmother, Frances Howard Peterson. Not only did she love poetry, she also loved cooking, science, and wine.
