Opaque ruby. Ripe dark berries, cherry pit and licorice on the spice-accented nose. Lush and appealingly sweet, offering juicy blackberry and cherry flavors that take on a smoky nuance with air. Closes spicy and long, with a hint of licorice and round, even tannins.
Grenache. Produced and bottled by Comando G, Daniel Jimenez-Landi's project (of Bodegas Jimenez-Landi) with fellow oneology cohorts, Fernando Garcia (Bodega Maranyones) and Marc Isart (Bodegas y Vinyedos Bernabeleva). They say that they met each other in class, but there are witnesses who say that they actually met at a bar inside the university.
A single varietal (100 percent) Tempranillo. Its grapes are from Cenicero. They are destemmed and pressed with new fermentation control technology and long maceration periods.
Made with Chardonnay grapes carefully harvested in vineyards at the highest elevation in La Rioja. The singularity of these vineyards, located in the boundary zone for grape cultivation, contributes great freshness and elegance. Serve at 7 - 8 °C.
100% Tempranillo aged 4 months in barrel and 4 months in bottle. The label honors Herminia Casas Madorrán, the wife of an early proprietor and the namesake of the winery.
The wine is clear and bright with a medium ruby color and presence of legs. The nose is clean and developing, showing medium intensity aromas of cedar, vanilla, chocolate, dark plums, dark cherries, licorice and anise.
Macán Clásico is deeply attached to its territory, Rioja San Vicente de la Sonsierra compiling centuries of tradition, knowledge and winegrowing culture from the foothills of Sierra de Cantabria. It expresses freshness, fruitiness and delicacy coming from its terroir which provides depth and complexity. Macán Clásico 2016 offers the purest expression of Rioja’s Tempranillo.
