Beginning in 1985, John Alban planted grapes for other individuals until he purchased an estate of his own in 1989. With an emphasis on making wines produced using Rhône Valley varietals, Alban came to be a pioneer of the Rhone Rangers development and is viewed as a standout amongst the most powerful American Rhone makers. Despite the fact that the emphasis is on rhone assortments, the Alban pinot noir is a delightful, full-flavored red wine.
