About The Producer - Jose Cuervo® has been making premium tequila for the past 250 years using the largest agave estate in the world. The agave fields are located at the brim of the Tequila Volcano in Mexico. The agave plants are harvested after seven years of aging. The plant's cores are sent to Jose Cuervo's distillery: La Rojeña. At the distillery the cores are roasted, grounded and smashed. The result is an extract which is placed into the fermentation tanks. Lastly, it is distilled and starts the aging process in toasted barrels. La Rojeña is the oldest distillery in Latin American that is still active.
The Tequilla - Jose Cuervo's Reserva de la Familia is the first extra añejo tequila ever made. The Cuervo family hand selects it from their private collection, this tradition has been passed down through the generations beginning in 1795. This exclusive tequila is released in limited batches once a year. Every bottle is dated, numbered and wax sealed by hand. Only the finest blue agave hearts are hand selected after being aged for 10 to 12 years and only the most flavorful inner part is used in the making. This award-winning, 100% Blue Agave, Extra Añejo Tequila is aged for no less than two years in the Cuervo families private cellar then mixed with reserves as old as 30 years.
